Filming is set to take place from October this year, according to planning documents

Scaffolding, ladders and machinery have been spotted in a field close to Shinfield Studios in Berkshire. Photos reveal what appears to be workers building the facade of a building made from timber for an open film set.

A Shinfield Studios spokesperson was able to confirm to BerkshireLive that the construction is a film set. They are unable to however divulge at this time what the set is for. However, it is speculated to be the set for an upcoming Star Wars TV series.

Planning documents submitted to Wokingham Borough Council says filming will take place from October 2022 until April 2023. The temporary 'Film Backlot' is situated on a field just southeast of Oldhouse Farm.

The new complex situated at Thames Valley Science Park near Reading is still in development. It already has four temporary stages in place. The site, once complete, will boast an 18-stage facility.

Five more stages are expected to open by the end of 2022. In December 2021, it was confirmed that Disney would be Shinfield Studios' first client. The hub is expected to generate around £600m a year for the UK economy.
