A few years ago, I moved into a new apartment. While my new place is just a few miles from my old one, the move turned into an adventure in both art of packing and taking apart furniture so it actually fit in a vehicle to travel those few miles.
While everything was carefully taken apart and screws were placed in marked ziplock bags, somewhere between one location and next we ended up losing a few into the abyss (and finding a few extras).
The true strength of a relationship isn’t tested when circumstances are easy, but when they are…
We made some makeshift replacement calls in the moment with things we had on hand, but this week I learned you can actually get replacement parts directly from IKEA in such mishaps, which would have made things quite a bit easier.
IKEA has a “Spare Parts” section in the Returns/Exchanges section of the store where you can pick up those parts that somehow went MIA. According to Domino , losing parts is a pretty common occurrence, and the store ends up passing out everything from just a screw or two to an entire bag.
Eyewear and Contacts Grab a backup pair or a sweet new accessory with sales this entire month.
Domino actually has a list of IKEA hacks up on its site courtesy of IKEA employees. Another one I liked: the best time to shop is 30 minutes to one hour after opening on a weekday. That way you’ll miss the crowds of enthusiastic shoppers who got there right when the store opened, but will get your shopping done before the real crowd for the day arrives. And it goes without saying, but avoid going on the weekend if at all possible. That’s when the lines are always worst.
Sometimes walking through Ikea feels like you’re in a maze where the walls are built from…
Another great tip? All of the employees know how to put together the furniture, they learn as part of their training. That means if you get really hung up reading those cryptic directions, you can just ask someone on the sales floor to help guide you.
