New York Giants voluntary minicamp practice

This won’t go over well.

The NFL is releasing the 2022 regular season schedule on Thursday.

In a leaked preview of the schedule, the New York Giants are set to host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3 for Monday Night Football on Sept. 26.

Just one problem: That game falls smack in the middle of Rosh Hashanah, the two-day celebration of the Jewish New Year, making it one of the most holy periods on the calendar. The holiday begins at sundown on Sunday, Sept. 25 and ends at sundown on Tuesday Sept. 27.

And while the NFL often plays on religious holidays, there wouldn’t be a conflict here if the Giants had been scheduled to play at 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. on Sunday. Two teams’ Jewish fans would be hurt by that Monday night game, and it turned out to be the Giants’ and Cowboys’ followings.

The Giants are set to kick off the season on Sunday, Sept. 11 on the road against the Tennessee Titans.

New York will make its home debut the following week, Sunday Sept. 18 when the Carolina Panthers visit MetLife Stadium.

Here’s how the Giants’ 2022 schedule looks:

• Week 3 (Sept. 26, Monday): vs. Cowboys

• Week 5 (Oct. 9): at Packers (in London), 9:30 a.m., NFL Network

• Week 12 (Nov. 24, Thanksgiving): at Cowboys

• Week 15 (Date not reported): at Commanders

• Week 16 (Dec. 24, Saturday): at Vikings

• Week 18 (Date not reported): at Eagles
