NEW YORK (1010 WINS ) — Two window washers were rescued after becoming stuck on their motorized scaffolding hanging over 40 stories in the air at a Manhattan skyscraper Friday morning, officials said.
The workers became stranded on a scaffold at a 650-foot-tall building located at 712 Fifth Ave., near West 56th Street, shortly after 8 a.m., according to an NYPD spokesperson.
FDNY firefighters on the scene used a buzz saw to cut through the glass in order to gain access to the two men, FDNY Rescue 1 Lt. John McCann said.

Firefighters were able to pull the two men inside the building at around 9 a.m.
“It’s kind of their comfort zone,” McCann said. “They handed it very well. They weren’t nervous at all,” he added and called the rescue a “smooth operation.”
A complaint submitted to the Department of Building said the platform was dangling from the 42nd floor of the 50-story building after an apparent malfunction.
